StatCare vocational rehabilitation professionals are dedicated to maximizing the skills of the injured worker and optimizing the opportunities for employment.  Statcare vocational counselors work closely with injured workers and employers to carefully identify job opportunities best suited to the injured workers physical abilities, transferable skills/experience/education and any other related skills.

Referral Criteria

  • Employer’s inability to accommodate the workers mental and/or physical demand restrictions

  • Employee cannot return to previous position/employer due to mental and/or physical demand restrictions

  • Post  Traumatic Stress Disorder  (PTSD)

Comprehensive File Review:  Focuses on which services are needed to return the claimant to work in the shortest amount of time and with the most positive results.

Vocational Evaluation & Testing:  A systematic approach to identify and assess the injured workers vocational interests, feasibility, temperament, functional abilities (strength, motor coordination, dexterity and other physical strengths and weaknesses), aptitudes (general learning ability, verbal, numerical, spatial, clerical perception), education (math, language, reasoning)  and other applicable skills, realistic expectations of employment and other cultural and economic factors.

Transferable Skills Analysis:  Derived from work history and other experience and determines occupationally and educationally driven skills possessed by the injured worker which may be used to quickly identify appropriate employment opportunities.  The Transferable Skills Analysis segregates skills into the following categories:

  • Highly Transferable – requires no training or support

  • Closely Transferable – requires little training or support

  • Moderately Transferable – requires some training and support

  • Work Related – requires significant training or support

Labor Market Survey:  Useful for identifying whether work for which an individual is qualified exists in substantial numbers in the local or regional job market.  The survey includes employment projections for specific occupations as documented from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and Department of Labor.  The Labor Market Survey involves multiple contacts with employers to determine job opportunities and this process allows our counselors to find out more about:

  • Specific openings with employers in the injured workers area

  • Competition for available openings

  • Wage rates

  • Experience, educational and training requirements

  • Future trends of the occupation

Vocational Counseling:  Vocational counseling services are beneficial to persons who are currently in Vocational Rehabilitation.  Vocational counseling can aid with goal and interest assessment, effectively establishing a job search plan, introducing useful contacts and career suggestions.  In a vocational counseling session, a client will be evaluated on their history: e.g., education, training, skills, work record and interests.  Vocational counseling services can also include aptitude and achievement assessments to establish a point of reference so the counselor can get the client on a path to success.  Vocational counseling can be helpful in assessing whether or not the client is motivated to return to work.

Job Readiness Training and Support:  The StatCare vocational rehabilitation counselors provide support to the injured worker to maximize job placement opportunities.  Counselors aid the injured worker with skills such as resume writing and review, cover letters, follow-up correspondence, coaching, practice interviews, questions to ask, how to answer questions from prospective employers, anxiety management, proper attire, etc.

Aggressive Placement:  It is the goal of StatCare vocational counselors to place injured workers as soon as possible.  Once a rehabilitation plan is developed and approved, StatCare counselors will aggressively search for employment opportunities and work to schedule multiple interviews for the injured worker.  The counselor will provide follow up and feedback from the employer and assist with determining next steps in the employment process.

Career Planning:  StatCare rehabilitation professionals assist individuals with newly defined abilities in the career planning process.  At StatCare, our counselors understand the difficulties associated with a change in physical or mental function and the problems that may arise in finding new employment that is suitable and gainful for the injured worker.  The staff’s knowledge of medical, psychological and vocational aspects associated with a change in function, combined with their understanding of the labor market, helps determine appropriate goals, devise effective rehabilitation plans and facilitate effective job placement.

Expert Witness Testimony:  Built on meticulous documentation.  StatCare vocational counselors are highly skilled record keepers.  Our consultants have the ability to provide expert witness testimony in a variety of situations, providing testimony for insurance companies and employers.

Post Placement Follow-Up: To ensure effective and long lasting outcomes, StatCare offers post placement follow-up and counseling to address any issues that may occur once placement with a new employer has been accomplished. The goal of this aspect of service is to make sure that the placement is effective and minimize the probability of significant issues resulting from work.
